motorized opportunity

Lolo motorway #500 (92 miles)

The Lolo Motorway is a 92 mile stretch of primitive road that largely parallels the Lochsa and North Fork Clearwater Rivers. There has been recent work and closures on certain parts of this, so check with your local Forest Office before heading out.

Weitas Creek #20 (29.2 miles)

Weitas Creek #20 begins at Weitas Creek Campground where Weitas Creek flows into the North Fork Clearwater River. The trail largely follows the creek for almost 30 miles until it pops out on Lolo Motorway #500 near 12 Mile Saddle. The first two miles are open to OHV up to 50” as well as the last eight miles. About 9 miles in is Weitas Guard Station, which is staffed by volunteers for part of the year and there are areas to camp. A fun trail to ride with not many steep sections as it roughly follows creek gradient.

windy bill #531 (14.5 miles)

This trail is accessed on the north from Scurvy Mountain #524. #524 is open to OHV up to 50” up to the old lookout. #531 begins the single track about 3 miles from the trailhead. This trail climbs quickly and largely follows the ridgeline until it comes to the junction of Smith Butte #632 and Windy Ridge #167.

Tour of idaho (T1) (1400 miles)

The Tour of Idaho (T1) is a 1400-mile dirt bike ride that begins in the Malad Range of southern Idaho and ends in the Selkirk Mountains near the Canadian border. It is very likely one of the most difficult long dirt bike rides in the United States.

T1 goes through GBCA’s mission area from Powell along the Lolo Motorway, Toboggan Ridge Rd, and Gospel Hump. The tour rides along the stateline until it pops out near Wallace and continues north.
