Forest Policy Program
Through the Forest Policy Program, GBCA advocates for strong administrative policies that protect the GBCA mission area, and pursue permanent protection for the Great Burn recommended wilderness.
Currently, our Forest Policy Program is especially focused on influencing strong conservation outcomes in forest plan revisions on the Nez Perce / Clearwater National Forests.
Effective advocacy for sound conservation policies depends on citizens like you working in conjunction with groups like ours. Check out the many ways you can get involved, and visit our Resources page to learn more about forest planning, wilderness, and other policy issues.

Forest Stewards Program
Working with multiple agencies, trained volunteers, and seasonal staff, our Forest Stewards program carries out targeted restoration and protection projects on the ground and provides year-round oversight and monitoring in our extended mission area.

Collaborative Conservation Program
The goal of this program area is to build a broad community of support for wilderness protection and natural resource conservation by initiating, leading, and participating in collaborative efforts where our work will have a significant impact.
GBCA has been a leader in many collaborative efforts in the past fifteen years. We currently participate in the Clearwater Basin Collaborative and the Idaho Roadless Commission. Our staff and board members have also been active in Resource Advisory Committees, authorized by the federal Secure Rural Schools Act, for several years.
